Songs of Sorrow, Songs of Hope (2001)

Songs of Sorrow, Songs of Hope was a telematic dance, music and video performance linking California and New York. Performed simultaneously in theatres in both locations, connected with high-quality video and audio over the Internet2 network, it featured live dance, music and processed video animation, interwoven between the two sites.

This piece was a response to the events of September 11, 2001. The video animation features flags of the many countries that lost citizens in the attacks.
