Telepresence Performance2011
Inspiraling: Telematic Jazz Explorations was a concert of new music and integrated video conceived as a telepresence performance, featuring renowned improvisers playing together as one trans-continental ensemble between San Diego and New York City.
Media designer John Crawford used the Active Space intermedia performance system to create abstract improvised video projections on multiple screens, integrated with music compositions by Michael Dessen and Sarah Weaver. The sources for the projections included live video feeds of the musicians in the two sites. Video artist Sarah Jane Lapp also employed the Active Space system to make video projections for a music composition by Mark Dresser.
