An interactive dance/media concert staged in Paris that situates performers in a processed landscape of media fragments (images, texts, sounds, movement, memories) sampled from cities real and imaginary.

Dancers were accompanied by projected visuals using John Crawford’s Active Space intermedia performance system to process a live onstage camera feed combined with dance footage and an architectural rendering of text fragments from the Invisible Cities of Italo Calvino. Urban Fabric: Paris is one in a series of interactive dance/media works staged in Europe, China and California. Influenced and inspired by Calvino’s stories, the Urban Fabric project reflects on the urban experience as an embodiment of collective memory, a repository for narrative that continually evolves through our physical responses to the circumstances we inhabit. Commissioned by France’s National Conservatory of Music and Dance.
