When There Was Water
Screendance2020

A screendance filmed on location in the Andalusia region of southern Spain. Presented in an online concert by the Spread Spectrum Festival in Moscow.
Directed by John Crawford with choreography by Lisa Naugle and set to Distant Waves by Linda Marcel, When There Was Water traverses the desolate “lost village” of El Acebuchal, the parched hills above Frigiliana and the stately pools and fountains in the Alhambra of Granada. The choreography embodies feelings of dislocation and separation, contemplating a world where water is a scarce resource.
Production date: July 2020.
