When There Was Water

Screendance2020

About

When There Was Water is a screendance by John Crawford and Lisa Naugle, set to Distant Waves by Linda Marcel. Filmed on location in the Andalusia region of southern Spain, this project traverses the desolate "lost village" of El Acebuchal, the parched hills above Frigiliana and the stately pools and fountains in the Alhambra of Granada. The choreography embodies feelings of dislocation and separation, contemplating a world where water is a scarce resource.
